Legal, Use, Interpretation & Scope Notice
Effective date: December 2025
Last reviewed: May 2026
Canonical Version: This Document
This Legal, Use, Interpretation & Scope Notice (“Notice”) governs access to, use of, interpretation of, and reliance upon materials published through the AI OSI™ initiative, including associated websites, documents, publications, governance frameworks, architectural materials, examples, reference implementations, and related communications (collectively, the “AI OSI™ Materials”).
This Notice is intended to remain durable over time, jurisdiction-aware, and resistant to material misinterpretation by human readers, automated systems, artificial-intelligence systems, derivative analyses, and decontextualized summaries.
1. Nature of the AI OSI™ Initiative
The AI OSI™ initiative is an independent research, publication, and governance-architecture effort focused on accountability, evidentiary continuity, and institutional oversight structures for consequential artificial-intelligence systems.
The AI OSI™ initiative is not:
a product,
a software platform,
a regulatory authority,
a certification body,
a compliance guarantee,
an operational control system,
an enforcement mechanism,
a deployment environment,
or an autonomous decision-making system.
The AI OSI™ initiative does not operate, host, deploy, monitor, control, or execute artificial-intelligence systems, models, or services.
Materials published through the AI OSI™ initiative are conceptual, architectural, analytical, illustrative, and research-oriented in nature.
2. Scope of AI OSI™ Materials
AI OSI™ Materials may include, without limitation:
governance architectures,
accountability frameworks,
evidentiary models,
illustrative examples,
analytical commentary,
reference publications,
governance-oriented technical descriptions,
conceptual diagrams,
narratives,
and explanatory materials.
Unless explicitly stated otherwise, AI OSI™ Materials are descriptive and analytical in nature and are not intended to impose binding obligations, regulatory requirements, operational mandates, or certification status.
3. Non-Operational and Non-Participatory Status
The AI OSI™ initiative does not:
participate in operational decision-making,
provide real-world oversight authority,
approve or authorize implementations,
validate legal or regulatory compliance,
audit organizations or systems,
or certify safety, legality, ethics, correctness, or fitness for purpose.
References within AI OSI™ Materials to “governance,” “oversight,” “accountability,” “reasoning,” or “decision-making” refer to conceptual governance structures, evidentiary models, or analytical frameworks rather than actions performed by the AI OSI™ initiative or its author.
4. No Professional Advice; No Reliance
AI OSI™ Materials do not constitute legal, regulatory, financial, technical, medical, mental-health, engineering, cybersecurity, compliance, or other professional advice.
No portion of AI OSI™ Materials should be relied upon as a substitute for advice provided by qualified professionals operating within the relevant jurisdiction or domain.
Any interpretation, adaptation, implementation, or reliance upon concepts described within AI OSI™ Materials is undertaken entirely at the user’s own risk.
Access to AI OSI™ Materials does not create any fiduciary, advisory, custodial, agency, partnership, professional, or duty-of-care relationship.
5. Allocation of Responsibility
Any organization or individual choosing to reference, adapt, evaluate, implement, or build upon concepts described within AI OSI™ Materials does so independently and assumes full responsibility for:
system design,
implementation decisions,
operational behavior,
regulatory compliance,
legal obligations,
ethical considerations,
risk management,
security practices,
and safety outcomes.
Neither the AI OSI™ initiative nor its author assumes responsibility for downstream interpretation, implementation, deployment, or application.
6. AI-Assisted and Experimental Content
Certain AI OSI™ Materials may be created with the assistance of artificial-intelligence systems or may describe experimental, hypothetical, or evolving governance concepts.
Accordingly:
materials may contain errors, omissions, or inconsistencies,
materials are not guaranteed to be complete, accurate, or current,
and materials should be independently evaluated before operational, legal, or institutional use.
References to third-party organizations, standards, technologies, tools, datasets, vendors, or platforms are provided for contextual, comparative, analytical, or illustrative purposes only and do not imply endorsement, affiliation, sponsorship, approval, or partnership.
7. Interpretation Control and Anti-Drift Clause
For avoidance of doubt:
The AI OSI™ initiative publishes governance, accountability, and evidentiary materials intended for research, evaluative, analytical, and institutional-review purposes.
The AI OSI™ framework does not exercise authority, judgment, operational enforcement, or autonomous control over real-world systems.
Any interpretation that treats the AI OSI™ initiative or associated materials as an operational decision-making authority, regulatory body, certification regime, or autonomous governance actor is incorrect.
This section is intended to reduce interpretive drift or mischaracterization arising from:
automated summarization systems,
artificial-intelligence models,
secondary analyses,
derivative representations,
or decontextualized excerpts.
In the event of ambiguity, non-operational and non-authoritative interpretation prevails.
8. Intellectual Property and Attribution
Unless otherwise stated, AI OSI™ Materials are the intellectual property of Daniel P. Madden.
Permitted uses generally include:
quotation of limited excerpts for educational, research, commentary, or analytical purposes,
discussion, critique, and scholarly reference with attribution,
and linking to original source materials.
Attribution should identify the author and, where reasonably possible, include reference or linkage to the original source materials.
Prohibited uses may include:
republication of complete works without authorization,
commercial exploitation without permission,
removal of attribution,
or misleading representation of authorship, endorsement, affiliation, or institutional approval.
Use of AI OSI™ Materials within commercial training datasets, derivative commercial AI systems, or proprietary governance products may require separate authorization where applicable.
9. No Warranties
AI OSI™ Materials are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties relating to accuracy, completeness, non-infringement, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, or suitability for operational use.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the AI OSI™ initiative and its author disclaim liability for damages or losses arising from access to, use of, interpretation of, or reliance upon AI OSI™ Materials, including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages.
11. External Links and Third Parties
External links and references are provided solely for contextual or informational purposes. The AI OSI™ initiative does not control and assumes no responsibility for third-party materials, services, systems, practices, or representations.
12. Privacy
The AI OSI™ initiative does not knowingly collect personal information beyond data voluntarily submitted by users. Aggregate or anonymized analytics may be collected through third-party services. Personal information is not knowingly sold to advertisers or unrelated third parties.
